During an assessment under our new approach

Date of Assessment: 23 July to 25 July 2025. Abington Park Surgery is a GP practice and delivers service to 12,751 patients. The service is delivered from Christchurch Medical Centre, Ardington Road. Northampton. NN1 5LT, a shared NHS building with King Edward Surgery. Information published by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the 5th decile (5 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. We carried out an announced comprehensive assessment at Abington Park Surgery on 25 July 2025 where we assessed all quality statements across the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led key questions. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. During this assessment, we found a strong emphasis on safety, with managers working on quality improvement projects within the Primary Care Network and responding appropriately to concerns raised. Staff made sure people were actively involved in decisions about their care and treatment, encouraging open conversations and questions. Everyone knew their roles and responsibilities, and there were clear systems in place to support strong leadership and effective delivery of the service. The team welcomed feedback and used it to improve their practices within the service. People were given choice and control over their care, and staff wellbeing was supported to help maintain a positive care environment. We also noted that staff were generally satisfied in their roles, and there was a clear leadership structure in place where staff felt well supported. Providing compassionate and respectful care was a priority, people were treated as individuals, with dignity and personal preferences respected.
