Date of Assessment: 22 May to 11 June 2025. St Thomas Road Surgery is a GP practice and delivers services to 6,282 patients under a contract held with NHS England. The practice is part of a wider network of GP practices within the Wakefield North primary care network (PCN). This comprises a partnership of GP practices who work together to improve patient care within their locality. The practice is open between 8am to 6:30pm Monday to Friday, offering a range of appointments, including same day appointments, pre-bookable appointments and home visits.

The clinical team consists of 4 GP partners, a nurse practitioner partner, 2 practice nurses and 3 healthcare assistants. Other clinical resource is provided to the practice from their PCN, this includes a clinical pharmacist and a pharmacy technician. Supporting these clinical staff is a reception and administration team led by a practice manager and assistant practice manager.

Information published by Public Health England shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the second lowest decile (2 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. The National General Practice Profiles states that the ethnic make-up of the practice area is 97% White and 3% Asian, Black or originating from mixed or other ethnic groups.
