During an assessment under our new approach
Date of assessment: 13 November 2025 and 22 January 2026. The Village Surgery is a GP practice which provides a range of primary medical services from its location in Liverpool, Merseyside. The practice delivers services to approximately 6,000 patients under a contract held with NHS England. According to the latest available data, the practice is situated within a deprived area, and the ethnic make-up of the practice area is 90.9% White, 3.6% Asian, 2.9% mixed, 1.5% Black and 1% Other ethnicity. We assessed all 5 key questions to establish if the services provided are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. We rated the service as good overall and good for all key questions.
We found the premises were clean and well-maintained. There were sufficient numbers of staff. Overall, medicines were well managed, and care and treatment were provided in line with best practice guidance. People who used the service were treated with kindness and compassion and staff protected their privacy and dignity. People could access the service easily. The provider worked to reduce health and care inequalities and patients were well-supported to access the service and other community health and social care resources. Overall, there were systems to learn and respond to significant events. There were processes in place to respond to and learn from complaints. The provider worked to continuously improve the service for people and staff. Staff feedback was positive about patient care, the culture at the service and the support staff received from the provider. The provider worked in partnership with relevant external stakeholders, commissioners and partner agencies to provide and develop effective services.
