All Inspections

5 February 2014

During a routine inspection

We used a number of different methods to help us understand the experiences of people who used the service. We talked with six people who used the service, two who were also members of the practice's Patient Participation Group (PPG). We observed interaction between staff and people who used the service. We reviewed records and systems and looked at the environment and how this impacted on the service delivery. We spoke with staff including; the practice manager, a practice nurse, a healthcare assistant, the reception manager and a receptionist. We also spoke with two of the GP's in the partnership.

This told us that people who used the service care needs had been assessed; they had time to discuss their health care issues, and had been fully involved in making decisions about their care and treatment. Comments from people who used the service included: 'The care they give is very good,' 'This is the best surgery I have been to,' 'They are a really decent bunch here, even the receptionists,' and 'This is the only surgery the doctors care and take notice of you, and you are not on a conveyor belt. I would be gutted if I had to move address and could not stay here.'

People were protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had been followed.

Recruitment procedures were in place to protect people who used the service.

There was an annual patient survey carried out, and there were arrangements for the practice to monitor standards of quality and safety.
