Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 17 September 2025 to 3 October 2025. This assessment was prompted in part due to the number of safeguarding concerns reported to the CQC. A decision was made for us to assess and examine those risks. We found no concerns relating to people’s safety.

The service is a care at home service providing support to people under and over the age of 65, some of whom may be living with dementia. At the time of the assessment 98 people received support with some aspects of their personal care.

People's care records and risk assessments were thorough, reflected people's care needs and were person-centred. People’s medicines were well managed, and the provider acted on safeguarding concerns, accidents and incidents. Guidance and assessments provided by other health and social care professionals were used to form meaningful care plans. Staff were well trained. This helped to improve people’s experiences and reduced the risk of harm.

People were protected and kept safe. Staff acted on risks to people’s health and safety. Staff made sure people understood their care needs to enable them to give informed consent. Staff involved those important to people to assist them with making decisions should they have reduced or no capacity.

People were treated with dignity, kindness and compassion. Staff supported people’s independence and encouraged and supported them to maintain relationships with family and friends. Most staff felt valued and enjoyed their role. Staff felt their opinions were valued.

Staff provided information to people in a way that they could understand. People knew how to give feedback and were confident the provider took it seriously and acted on it. People had been supported to plan their care when they neared the end of their lives.

Management had effective governance processes in place that identified risks and encouraged development and continued improvement across the service. Quality assurance processes were effective in highlighting areas of concern and improvement but also good practice.

People's experience of this service

People and relatives told us care was provided in the way they or their family members wanted. Most felt calls were provided on time and they had a consistent team of staff who understood their needs. Some people raised concerns that some staff struggled to communicate effectively with them due to English not being their primary language. However, this had not affected the quality of care provided.

People felt safe when staff supported them in their homes. People felt staff were well trained and understood how to provide safe care for them. People and relatives felt medicines were well managed.

People and relatives found staff to be kind, compassionate and caring. People were involved with making decisions about their care and were involved with setting up their care plan. People had access to external health and social care agencies where required. People’s views and choices were respected.

People, relatives, and staff felt the service was well managed. They felt their views were valued, and when concerns were raised, they felt these would be acted on appropriately. Some people and relatives would like to hear from the management team more regularly.
