Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 13 May 2025 to 20 May 2025. Russell Street Group Practice is a GP practice that delivers service from 3 different sites to approximately 8900 patients under a contract held with NHS England. The National General Profile Practice Profiles states its patient population has a mixed ethnicity that is predominantly White. Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is the 6th decile (6 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. This inspection considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery.

We carried out this inspection to follow up on concerns identified during our previous inspection in May 2024. At the last inspection we found concerns relating to the delivery of safe care and treatment and with the provider’s governance systems. These concerns resulted in breaches of Regulation 12 (Safe care and treatment) and Regulation 17 (Good governance).

At this inspection, we found that the provider had made the improvements and is no longer in breach of regulations.

We assessed 15 quality statements across the safe, effective, and well-led key questions. We have scored each of these quality statements and the new overall rating following this inspection is good.

People's experience of this service

People using the service were generally positive about the quality of their care and treatment. Recent survey results from the National GP Patient Survey showed concerns around access and experience of people contacting the service. The NHS Friends and Family Test indicated that people were satisfied with quality of care and service they received. There was a patient participation group (PPG) in place that represented the view of the patients, however it was unclear that any recent initiatives were driven directly by patient input.
