Date of Assessment: 30 April 2025 to 20 May 2025. Carn to Coast Health Centre provides GP services in Redruth, Cornwall to approximately 30,000 patients under a contract held with NHS England. The service is delivered from the main location at Pool Health Centre and at 3 branch sites: Homecroft Surgery, Trevithick Surgery and St Day Surgery. The National General Practice Profiles states that 97% of patients registered at this service are White, 0.6% are Asian, 1% are mixed, 0.2% are Black and 1.2% are of other ethnicities. Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the 3rd decile (3 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. We assessed all quality statements across the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led key questions. At this assessment, we found the service understood their patient population and were passionate about implementing systems and processes to improve health outcomes.

People's experience of the service

Updated 10 March 2025

People were positive about the quality of their care and treatment. Recent survey results, including from the National GP Patient Survey showed people were satisfied with their experience at their last appointment. There was an active patient participation group (PPG) who represented the views of people using the service. The PPG described how managers made positive changes because of feedback, such as making changes to the online form to request an appointment. We asked the service to share a link with people so they could share their feedback with CQC and 55% of the feedback we received was positive. People told us the staff were friendly and went above and beyond their role to help. Whilst our assessment did not find any elements of care not meeting the expected standard, some people expressed difficulty in accessing care, support, and treatment in a way that met their needs or preferences.
