This location is dual registered. Dual registration is when a provider has stated, and is able to evidence, that at least two providers are both responsible for managing the regulated activities at a single location. CQC consider both providers to be reliable and legally responsible for carrying on of the regulated activity irrespective of any specific arrangements between them. This means that any default or breach by one provider is the responsibility of both providers. The two providers responsible for the location are Artisan Care Northants Limited, and Willowbrook Healthcare Limited. Date of Assessment: 7 to 10 January 2025. This assessment was carried out by 1 inspector and 2 Experts by Experience with personal experience of using or caring for someone who uses this type of care service. The service is a residential care home providing support for up to 84 older people, including those living with dementia.
At our last inspection the service was in breach of regulation relating to safe care and treatment and governance.
At this assessment, there were 69 people in residence. We found they were no longer in breach of regulations as the provider had taken action to mitigate and manage risks to people’s needs. People received their medicine safely by staff trained and competent to do so. People’s health was promoted by safe infection prevention and control practices. Improvements were found with the learning culture, oversight systems to monitor and improve all aspects of the service. Staff were recruited safely, supervised, received feedback on their performance and their wellbeing promoted. There were enough staff to meet people’s needs. Personalised guidance in care plans enabled staff to support people safely. Staff understood how to protect them from abuse. All accidents, incidents and complaints had been recorded and were thoroughly investigated. People’s choices and wishes were respected and lawful processes were followed for people who lacked capacity to make their own decisions. Staff monitored people’s health and worked well with other agencies to ensure the best outcomes for people. People lived in a clean and well-maintained home. Staff treated people with respect, kindness and were supported to maintain their independence. The service had a registered manager, and they and staff understood their roles and responsibilities. There was a positive culture within the home, empowering people and staff to speak up without fear. Management and staff ensured people had equal opportunities and did not face discrimination within the care.
