All Inspections

15 January 2014

During a routine inspection

We inspected Bealeys Lane on a follow up inspection. At our previous inspection in April 2013 we found that the service required a programme of maintenance to improve the decor for people that used the service. We saw that the service was not following their own risk assessment in the management of people's monies. Following our previous inspection the manager contacted us to inform us that the service had made the required improvements. This inspection was unannounced which meant the service did not know we would be coming. We spoke with the manager, checked financial records and observed the maintenance throughout the service.

We found that the communal areas had been decorated to a reasonable standard.

We found that the service had reviewed people's risk assessments in the management of people's monies and systems were now in place to protect people from financial abuse.

Bealeys Lane was compliant in the two outcome areas we looked at.

2 April 2013

During a routine inspection

We inspected Bealeys Lane on a planned unannounced inspection which meant the service did not know we were coming.

We looked to see if improvements had been made in regard to staffing and the suitability of premises since our previous inspection in July 2011. We found that some improvements had been made in staffing but the service still required a programme of maintenance to improve the decor for people that used the service.

People who used the service were unable to talk with us due to their complex needs. We observed staff interacted with people in a dignified manner and saw that people who used the service were offered choices about their daily living routines.

We found that people were being cared for effectively with support from external agencies when appropriate.

We looked to see how people who used the service were safeguarded from abuse or the risk of abuse. We found that the service were not following their own risk assessment in the management of people's monies.

We saw that the service had a complaints procedure. We found that when a complaint was made it had been investigated effectively.
