This service scored 75 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.
The service had a shared mission statement, values, vision and aims. This was based on providing high quality care with people at the heart of everything they do, professionalism, best practice, respect, working together with people, integrity and adaptability. Staff and leaders understood the challenges and the needs of people and their communities.
Service leaders met regularly and discussed and reviewed risks and agreed and monitored improvements. This included for example, the current building work and recruitment. They had successfully recruited an additional GP and had restructured staffing to support the development of staff. Staff and leaders actively promoted equality and diversity and worked to identify the causes of any workforce inequalities. They demonstrated a positive and compassionate listening culture that focused on people who used the service. Staff we spoke with gave positive feedback about the supportive teamwork culture, which prioritised people who used the service.

Governance, management and sustainability
The service had clear responsibilities, roles, systems of accountability and good governance. They used these to manage and deliver good quality, sustainable care, treatment and support. They acted on the best information about risk, performance and outcomes, and shared this securely with others when appropriate.
Staff we spoke with were clear on their individual roles and responsibilities. Leaders were available for staff support and advice and staff we spoke with told us they were supported. Leaders explained that important information was formally communicated to staff through group tasks. Each staff member was required to acknowledge the information individually, and tasks were only closed once all staff had completed this process. Weekly informal nurse meetings were held and any issues identified were discussed with leaders. Staff told us they could access all required policies and procedures, which were kept up to date and reflected latest guidance. Arrangements were in place for appraisals, although these were slightly overdue because new appraisers were being trained for this role.
