Equity in access
The service made sure people could access the care, support and treatment they needed when they needed it.
The service performed better than the national average in the results of the 2026 National GP Patient Survey. This showed people could access the service when they needed it in a way that suited their needs, such as by telephone, in person or through the service’s website. For example, 79% of respondents to the survey described their overall experience of contacting this service as being good, compared to a national average of 70%. Staff were all trained in care navigation and patient requests for appointments were responded to quickly and efficiently. Data from the National GP Patient Survey shows a slightly higher rate in that 79% of patients describe their experience of contacting this practice as good compared with the national average of 73%.
Treatment rooms were all available on the ground floor, and an automatic door had been fitted to the entrance to ensure ease of access to the service.
Equity in experiences and outcomes
Staff and leaders actively listened to information about people who were most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes. They tailored their care, support and treatment in response to this.
Staff treated people equally and without discrimination. Leaders proactively sought ways to address any barriers to improving people’s experience and worked with local services, including within the voluntary sector, to address any local health inequalities. For example, patients whose circumstances may make them vulnerable (such as those with learning disability) were offered appointments at quieter times and there was a dedicated member of staff for them to liaise with. Staff understood the importance of providing an inclusive approach to care and made adjustments to support equity in people’s experience and outcomes. The National GP Survey showed that 90% found the reception and administrative team at this practice to be helpful compared to the national average of 85%.
Staff followed processes to ensure people could register at the service, including those in vulnerable circumstances such as homeless people. The practice acknowledged that they had not been collecting patient feedback via the NHS Friends and Family test since 2025 and this was due to change in staff. They assured that processes had been put in place and relevant submissions would be made as required by national guidance.
