Date of Assessment: 24 April 2025 to 30 April 2025.

Hollyns Health and Wellbeing is a GP practice which provides primary care services to patients in Bradford, West Yorkshire. The practice has a branch site, which operates from within Allerton Health Centre in Bradford. Both sites were visited as part of this assessment.

The practice is registered with the Care Quality Commission to deliver the regulated activities; diagnostic and screening procedures, family planning, maternity and midwifery services, surgical procedures and treatment of disease, disorder or injury. These are delivered from both sites. The practice is situated within the NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board area, and delivers Primary Medical Services to a patient population of approximately 13,000. The practice is part of the Bradford North West Primary Care Network (PCN). Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the second lowest decile (2 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others.

According to the latest available data, the ethnic make-up of the practice area is 35% Asian, 57% White, 2% Black, 4% Mixed, and 2% Other.

We carried out this assessment to follow up on an inspection undertaken in April 2023, where the practice was rated requires improvement overall, and for the key questions of safe, effective and responsive. The practice was rated good for the key questions of caring and well-led. The practice was in breach of Regulation 12 (Safe care and treatment).

At this assessment we reviewed the practice’s current performance in the key questions of safe, effective, and responsive, and in the quality statement governance, management and sustainability under the key question well-led. Since the last inspection, the practice had made improvements and is no longer in breach of regulations. The practice is now rated good overall and for all key questions.

People's experience of the service

Updated 21 March 2025

As part of the assessment process, we asked the practice to invite patients to share their experience of the service via the Give Feedback on Care form on the Care Quality Commission website. We received 136 responses. Of these, 45% were positive about the service they had received from the practice. The less positive responses were largely related to issues around accessing appointments.

The National GP Patient Survey for 2024 showed that the practice was performing in line with national averages in areas such as patients being involved as much as they wanted to be in decisions about their care and treatment, and patients having confidence and trust in the healthcare professional they saw or spoke to during their last GP appointment. The practice did not perform as well in areas such as patients finding it easy to get through to the GP practice by phone, and patients knowing what the next step would be after contacting their GP practice. Of the 109 patients who completed the survey, 55% described their overall experience of the practice as good, compared to the local and national average of 74%.

Feedback from representatives from the patient participation group regarding their interactions with the practice was positive.

The NHS Friends and Family Test data from January 2024 to January 2025 showed that an average of 63% of respondents rated their overall experience of the practice as good or very good.
