Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 12 May to 5 June 2026.
Apollo Home Healthcare Limited – North West is a homecare agency providing care and support to people living in their own homes and flats. The service provides care to adults and children with very complex care needs, often after an extended stay in hospital. We carried out this assessment due to the length of time since the last inspection.
Not everyone who used the service received personal care. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. At the time of the assessment the service was supporting 62 people receiving personal care which comprised of 26 adults and 36 children. This was help with tasks related to personal hygiene, eating, medication administration and support with medical procedures such as Tracheostomies and Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) feeding.
We assessed the service against ‘right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
People’s care needs were thoroughly assessed by a lead nurse and care plans provided staff with all the information needed to provide personalised care and clinical support. Risk assessments were completed and provided staff with information they needed to manage all identified risk, including risks associated with equipment used. People and their families were involved in reviews of care and people were supported to achieve desired goals. The service worked well with other healthcare professionals and supported people to receive the care they needed and the best possible quality of life.
Staff had safeguarding training and knew how to keep people safe and protect them from the risk of abuse.
The management and quality team had excellent oversight of the service, completing audits, analysing any incidents that occur and speaking regularly with staff. There was a strong culture of learning and development within the service and a desire to continuously improve.
Feedback was proactively sought from the people they supported, their families and the staff, who all spoke highly of the management team. The management and quality team were passionate about providing personalised, high quality care that was safely delivered and improved people’s lives.
Medicines and clinical procedures were managed safely, by competent staff and with oversight from the nurses employed by the service. A review of the medication administration records (MARs) was regularly conducted and appropriate actions taken as necessary.
