Date of Assessment: 18 November – 4 December 2025.

This service is a residential care home providing support to older people, some of whom are living with dementia. The service can support up to 30 people. At the time of the inspection, 22 people were living in the service. This inspection was carried out due to the length of time since we last inspected. We completed a comprehensive inspection, covering all quality statements.

People were supported by a consistent staff team who knew them well and understood how they liked to be supported. Staff were safely recruited and were provided with appropriate training to support them in their role. People and those important to them were able to raise concerns and the provider promoted an open, listening culture in the service. The provider had processes in place to record incidents and accidents. However, these records were not always robustly monitored and reviewed to ensure all appropriate actions were taken. Not all risks to people’s health and safety had been monitored effectively. Systems in place for managing the safe administration of people’s medicines were not always robust.

The facilities and equipment in the service met people’s needs. However, the provider’s processes for monitoring the safety, cleanliness and hygiene of the environment required improvement.

People were involved in assessments of their needs. Staff reviewed assessments taking account of people’s communication, personal and health needs. People had enough to eat and drink to stay healthy. Staff worked with all agencies involved in people’s care for the best outcomes and smooth transitions when moving services. They monitored people’s health to support healthy living. Staff made sure people understood their care and support to enable them to give informed consent.

People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy. They treated them as individuals and supported their preferences. People had choice in their care and were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends. Staff responded to people in a timely way. The provider supported staff wellbeing.

People were involved in decisions about their care. People and those important to them knew how to give feedback and were confident the provider would take it seriously. People received fair and equal care and support.

Staff and leaders had a shared vision and culture which placed people at the centre of the service. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities and leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive.

Governance processes were in place to monitor the safety and quality of the service. However, these were not always being implemented effectively. The provider was responsive to feedback given during the inspection, taking immediate action to address areas where improvements were required. The management team demonstrated a commitment to making continuous improvements in the service to ensure people received good care.

People's experience of the service

Updated 31 October 2025

People and those important to them spoke positively about the quality of care provided. They told us the service had a positive and welcoming atmosphere and staff were kind and caring. Relatives told us they had no concerns about people’s safety.

Some people could not directly tell us about their experience. We used a structured observation tool to assess whether they received good care. This approach showed us people were listened to and staff were friendly and respectful in their interactions. Staff were prompt to respond to people’s needs to minimise any distress or delay.

People and their relatives told us managers were friendly, approachable and easy to contact. People told us staff knew them well and relatives said people’s care met their personalised needs and preferences. Relatives told us they would recommend the service to others.
