All Inspections

During a routine inspection

We spoke with four people who used the service and a relative. They told us, 'Care staff are great', 'Sometimes the staff are different and I don't always know who is coming', 'I feel safe knowing I can call them if needed' and 'I'm very happy with the staff they are lovely.' A relative told us, 'The staff are really good I don't have to worry.'

People we spoke with told us they had not been informed they could choose another personal care provider, should they wish to do so, other than Sue Ryder. We saw records did not contained information about determining people's capacity. Care plans were not written in a manner that was individual or personal to the person. Care plans lacked information to support people with their individual medication needs. However, staff we spoke with were able to explain in detail the individual needs of people they supported and how they were able to meet them.

We looked at how staff were supported to develop their skills. We saw the service had a system in place to make sure staff training was up to date and to flag when staff were due for training.

We saw records which showed that the senior care staff undertook 'spot checks' in peoples homes to make sure that the service provided was suitable. The manager undertook checks (audits) on the quality of service provided including environment, staff training, staff induction and medication audits in order to maintain the quality of the service.
