During a routine inspection

People we spoke with told us they felt that care workers treated them with respect, listened to them and respected their privacy and dignity. Comments included 'all of the staff are very pleasant' and 'the carers ask what I would like them to do'.

People who used the service and their relatives told us they were very happy with the care they received. They said "I'm very pleased' and 'I give them 10 out of 10'. We found the care plans contained enough detail so care workers knew how to meet people's needs.

We spoke with care workers who were able to tell us how they met people's care needs. We found that care workers received appropriate training and professional development so they could carry out their job role effectively. Staff knew how to report concerns to ensure people were protected from the risk of harm.

There were systems in place to monitor the quality of the service provided. People were asked to give their views about the care and support they received. People told us 'I see the manager regularly' and 'I've got no complaints, it's an excellent service'.

During a routine inspection

People were pleased with the service they received. One person said 'I have no concerns', "They treat me very well." Relatives were also pleased with the service and said the agency informed them of any incidents or changes.

Everyone we spoke with said staff were polite and respectful and said that staff provided care and support in a respectful way. One person said "They are a breath of fresh air.' Another said the staff were 'well qualified and had the right attitude.' People said staff knew how to provide the care and support they needed.

People told us they felt safe and reassured in the presence of staff and said staff respected their property and belongings. Staff were aware of the different types of abuse and knew how to recognise signs and report it correctly. Staff told us they had enough information given to them to know how to care for peoples needs. Staff also said the induction programme had been. Staff were also complimentary about the support they received from the Manager and organisation. We found the recruitment process was good but improvements would make it more robust.

The staff mandatory training programme was not complete. This meant that staff may not receive the information to care for people in a safe way.

People using the service, their families and staff appreciated that the agency was small. They knew how to complain, were able to provide feedback about the service and told us that changes were made as necessary.
