Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 15 December 2025 to 29 December 2025. The Leys is a Care Home and specialist service that supports autistic people or people living with a learning disability. There were 7 people living at the service at the time of our assessment.

We assessed the service against 'Right support, right care, right culture' guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.'

Staff were trained, recruited and deployed safely. The service protected people from the risk of abuse. Lessons were learnt and actions were taken where people had experienced incidents or accidents. Medicines were managed safely. There was evidence that the provider had supported people alongside external health professionals appropriately. A staff member said, “All of the people we support in our care are encouraged to be as independent as possible and to try to do things for themselves.”

We identified that some improvements were needed to the environment, care planning and how the service assessed people when they were unable to make decisions independently. However, the provider told us what action they would take to improve these areas.

People's experience of this service

People had their independence promoted. They were supported in being part of their community and in pursuing their preferred pastimes and interests. There were systems in place for the service to regularly seek feedback from people and involve them in reviewing their care and setting goals. People were supported by a staff team who knew them well and understood their needs. A person said, “This is the best place I have ever been. I love It here.”
