In the Shropshire Shared Lives Scheme people who received a service were supported by people whose homes they shared. Within this report these people are referred to as carers. People who received a service from the Shared Lives Scheme either lived with their carers permanently or visited them for short breaks. We spoke with people who had a range of needs and everyone we spoke with told us that their needs were met. People told us that they lived with carers who they liked and who enabled them to live full and active lives.

People who received a service told us that they felt involved and consulted in how they lived their lives. They told us that carers treated them well and always respected their privacy.

Staff who worked for the Scheme (referred to within this report as workers) were motivated and enthusiastic. Workers were responsible for providing support to carers and monitoring placements. They told us how they felt well supported and well trained.

The Scheme regularly monitored the service provided. We saw how the registered manager and workers reviewed care and support regularly to ensure it remained appropriate. They had systems in place to promote people's welfare, rights and protect their finances.
