Our current view of the service

Updated 12 August 2025

Date of Assessment: 18 August to 19 September 2025. This assessment covered of all the 5 key questions. This assessment was prompted by a review of the information we held about the service. The service is a care at home service providing support to older and younger people living in their own homes. Not everyone who used the service were receiving the regulated activity of personal care. Personal care is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. At the time of our assessment, they were providing personal care services to 24 people.

The registered manager fostered a forward thinking, progressive ethos, focused on continuous improvement and overcoming barriers to people receiving good quality care. They had made excellent links with external health and social care partners to improve people’s outcomes around the safety of hospital discharges and reducing risks related to monitoring people’s changing needs and medicines prescriptions.

The provider had worked creatively to ensure that people were given information about their care in a format they understood. This helped to ensure that people were equal partners in planning and reviewing their care. This also helped to ensure the provider could obtain valid consent to care as they had met people’s communication needs.

We received consistently positive feedback from people, about the quality of care, positive relationships with staff and communication with senior staff. People told us they received the care they needed in a way which was person centred and promoted their dignity.

Staff received appropriate training and support in their role and had a good understanding of how to keep people safe in their own homes. The provider was responsive to people’s needs and ensured that care was adjusted when people’s needs changed. Staff had a good knowledge around how to manage risks related to care, safely administer people’s medicines and respond to incidents. This helped to keep people safe.

The provider had effective policies and procedures in place to promote good quality care and effective oversight of the service. This included systems to monitor how care was being delivered and systems to gain feedback about care. The provider acted positively to people’s feedback and used associated learning to make positive change.

The service is registered for use by autistic people or people with a learning disability. At the time of the assessment, the service was not used by anyone with a learning disability or an autistic person. Staff had completed training in supporting people with a learning disability and autism and the registered manager had obtained qualifications in training staff in positive behaviour support. However, the registered manager told us they did not currently plan to take on care packages within requiring this specialism.
