During an inspection looking at part of the service

At our last inspection in February 2014 we found that the provider was non-compliant with regulations relating to the support provided for staff, in particular there was a lack of supervision and appraisal. The provider was also non-compliant with regulations relating to the way it assessed and monitored the quality of its service. We asked for, but were not shown, any evidence that the practice used patient feedback to monitor and improve care.

At this inspection we found that the provider had addressed these issues. Staff received support including training, appraisal and individual supervision. We were shown how the practice obtained feedback from patients and used this to monitor performance. Recent patient feedback about the practice had been very positive and no issues for improvement had been identified.

During a routine inspection

During this inspection we spoke with three people using the service. This included one person whose children were using the practice as well. People told us staff treated them with dignity and respect. One person told us, "they [the staff] treat you like an individual." Another person commented, "the dentist was very nice and friendly."

People were also satisfied with the quality of treatment provided by dental professionals. One person said, "there is nothing I would do differently. They did a really lovely job."

There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection.

Staff received regular training, however they did not received regular supervision and appraisals.

The provider was unable to evidence that there were effective systems in place to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive.
