During a routine inspection

We used a number of different methods to help us understand the experiences of people using the service because people were being supported with palliative care. We gathered evidence of people's experiences of the service by reviewing comments received from relatives and care records. We found that people were being assessed upon referral to the service and their needs were being discussed with them and their relatives. Clinical records noted the support each person wished to have and the way in which they wished to be supported. Changes in their needs were clearly identified and contact with other healthcare professionals was recorded.

Feedback received by the provider included, "you were 100% brilliant, nurses were so lovely" and "I had no idea such an organisation existed and felt truly blessed to meet you all and see you in action".

The agency worked closely with other healthcare professionals promoting robust communication, a consistent approach and protecting the health, welfare and safety of people and their families.

Recruitment and selection processes made sure that staff had the appropriate skills, experience and knowledge to meet people's needs. Comments about staff included, "nurses were gentle and wonderfully kind and caring".

The quality assurance system included seeking the views of the support provided to people and their families. All feedback was positive and recognised that people were treated with "utmost respect, care and compassion".
