During a routine inspection

We spoke with the manager, four care workers and three people who used the service.

People's consent was gained before care was given. One person said, 'It is always 'is it alright if I do?'; always 'would you like to do?'; I've never had a case of 'this is the way it's going to be'!'

People told us they were happy and appeared contented and settled. One said, 'I'm happy at the moment, we've been through a rough time but it's getting there now'. People had individual care plans and people confirmed they received the support the plans detailed.

Staff had been trained in Safeguarding and knew how to identify and report suspected abuse. One said, 'I'd go straight to the manager, I'd definitely action it. If necessary I'd go to the police or social worker'. People who used the service had access to information suitable for their needs and knew who to contact. One told us, 'If it were serious I'd phone the CQC myself but I hope I wouldn't have to do that'.

All staff at the home had appropriate checks before starting work. People who used the service were involved in staff recruitment and had confidence in the staff's abilities.

The provider used a range of methods to gather the views of people who used the service and staff. They also monitored quality and had measures in place to ensure the home was safe.
