All Inspections

During a check to make sure that the improvements required had been made

The provider was able to demonstrate they were meeting the standards without the need for a visit.

People were protected from the risks of unsafe or inappropriate care and treatment because accurate and appropriate records were maintained.

The provider sent us an action plan after our inspection in May 2013. .

We looked at records and found that most of the actions in the action plan had been completed.

The provider told us the outstanding action which was to assess staff on their ability to carry out equipment tests, including recording, had not yet commenced but they were in the process of developing this.

We saw in the records signatures and dates were in place and records were being audited to ensure they were complete.

During a routine inspection

As part of our inspection we spoke with staff and patients and looked at records. Overall we observed people were supported by skilled and experienced staff who understood their roles and responsibilities.

We saw people were treated with dignity and respect. There were systems in place which enabled people to express their views about the services and care they received.

A patient told us staff were courteous and friendly. They said, "Never had a problem with the bedside manner."

People told us they were given choices about the treatment they received.

We observed people received information about their treatment and appropriate consent was obtained before treatment commenced.

We saw people were cared for in a clean environment and protected against the risk of infection.

We looked at the outcomes of patient surveys and saw people were happy with the care and support they received.

During our visit we found a number of incomplete records which related to the tests carried out on the equipment used to clean instruments.
