Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 7 July 2026. Ryedale Homecare is a domiciliary care service providing personal care to older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people with a learning disability, in their own homes. This assessment was undertaken to review regulatory compliance and improvements made following the provider's previous assessment, where a warning notice was issued, and the provider was in breach of regulations relating to governance. Improvements were found at this assessment, and the provider was no longer in breach of this regulation.

People were protected from avoidable harm through improved systems for monitoring risk, care delivery, and staff performance. Care plans and risk assessments were detailed, regularly reviewed, and reflected people's individual needs and preferences. Staff received appropriate training, supervision, and competency assessments to support the delivery of safe and effective care. Medicines were managed safely, and people received coordinated support from healthcare professionals when their needs changed.

People were supported by caring staff who treated them with dignity and respect and involved them in decisions about their care. Care planning reflected people's strengths, wishes, and desired outcomes. We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

At the previous assessment, governance systems had not effectively identified and addressed concerns relating to care records, risk management and oversight of care delivery. During this assessment, we found significant improvements had been made. Leaders had implemented effective quality assurance and auditing systems which provided oversight of care delivery, records, risks and staff practice. The provider demonstrated that actions taken in response to the enforcement action had been embedded and sustained.

People's experience of this service

People and relatives were consistently positive about the care and support they received. They told us staff were kind, reliable and treated people with dignity and respect.

People said they felt safe receiving support. Relatives spoke positively about the consistency of staff and the support provided to help people remain living independently in their own homes. One relative told us, "I'm very impressed with the care, they are amazing." Another relative said, "I know [person] couldn't stay in [their] own home without them."

People told us staff knew them well and understood their individual needs and preferences. One person described staff as "my window on the world," whilst another said staff were "always pleasant" and "always know what needs to be done."

People and relatives also told us staff responded appropriately when needs changed and communicated well with healthcare professionals and family members.

Relatives consistently described staff as reliable, knowledgeable and responsive. Feedback showed people valued the positive relationships they had developed with staff and felt confident care would be delivered safely and in line with their wishes.

People felt involved in decisions about their care and knew how to raise concerns if they needed to.

Although no complaints had been received, people and relatives were confident they would be listened to and action would be taken. Feedback gathered through surveys and reviews demonstrated high levels of satisfaction with the service.

We visited 2 people with a learning disability in their homes. Both people appeared happy, relaxed and comfortable with the staff supporting them. We observed positive, natural interactions and saw people being encouraged to discuss activities, outings, family relationships and interests important to them.
