Person-centred Care
Staff made sure people were at the centre of their care and treatment choices.
People’s care plans were detailed and contained good information about people, their needs and preferences. However, we found there was no background information in people’s plans. This is important for staff to get to know a person, particularly in the person is unable to provide the information themselves.
However, it was evident staff we spoke with knew people well as they were able to describe people’s individuality and their preferred routines.
There was good detail around people’s personal care routine and goals had been set in conjunction with keyworkers, which people were working towards. (A key worker is a member of staff who has been allocated to a person. They work closely with the person helping to ensure all their needs are met).
Staff said they felt care plans were comprehensive. They told us, “It’s all in the care plans. They’re detailed enough and if agency come, they are well informed.” We read one person’s preferences and this was confirmed by staff. They told us, “We sing and dance together with her as this makes her smile.”

Equity in experiences and outcomes
Staff listened to those at risk of inequality and adjusted care and support to meet their needs.
People had the involvement of a community engagement staff member whose role was to support people with their preferred activities. This helped ensure people had equal access to the community and participation in their favourite pastime. A staff member told us, “Sometimes we do colouring or go for walks, [person] likes arts and crafts and on Thursday the organisation has engagement stuff to encourage [person]. I take [person] shopping. It’s not a set amount of days a week. It depends on the week, but some weeks I see [person] 3-4 times.”
Other people were being supported to create their CV, with the registered manager telling us, “Some people want to get back into work or volunteer.”
