Effective

Effective – this means we looked for evidence that people’s care, treatment and support achieved good outcomes and promoted a good quality of life, based on best available evidence.

At our last assessment we rated this key question Good. At this assessment the rating has remained Good. This meant people’s outcomes were consistently good, and people’s feedback confirmed this.

The registered manager made sure people’s care and treatment was effective by assessing and reviewing their health, care, wellbeing and communication needs with them.

Prior to people receiving input from Intrinsic Care, the registered manager carried out a face to face assessment with them. This was to gather information on the care they required, their likes and dislikes and whether Intrinsic Care was a suitable care provider for them.

The information gathered during this assessment formed the basis of the person’s care plan.

The registered manager understood people had rights around consent and they respected these when delivering person-centred care and treatment.

No one currently receiving a care package from Intrinsic Care lacked capacity and therefore people could make their own decisions. This included telling staff if they did not wish to take their medicines or attend a healthcare professional appointment.

Staff understood the need to gain a person’s consent prior to providing care. A staff member told us, “We ask them, they are all quite verbal. [Person’s name] tells you what she’s feeling.”
