Equity in experiences and outcomes
Staff and leaders actively listened to information about people who were most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes and tailored their care, support and treatment in response to this. Care plans indicated the persons cultural and religious preferences. People’s care plans also had a section on equality, diversity and inclusion which included guidance for staff on ensuring care was culturally sensitive, aligned to the person’s beliefs and respected their cultural practices. The registered manager told us staff completed training on supporting people’s human rights, equality and diversity. These subjects were also discussed during team meetings and supervision. People’s preferences for the gender of the staff member who visited them was identified to ensure they met any religious or cultural requirements.
