All Inspections

7 February 2013

During a routine inspection

People's privacy, dignity and independence was respected, as people understood the care and support choices available to them. One said 'I am lucky to have such lovely people help me and take me to where I want to go.'

Care treatment and support was planned in a way that ensured people's safety and welfare. One person said 'I like going into the town but can't go alone as I am worried about crossing roads and too many people being around so I like having the help from my support workers.'

All staff were subject to appropriate checks and references were taken up prior to the start of their employment. Staff were trained to be able to deliver the care and support required by individuals. One person said 'The staff are very good they can support my son with all of his needs and understand him.'

We spoke to the service manager, the care co-ordinator, staff and people who use the service as well as the people who use services relatives by telephone. Comments we received were all positive and included 'They are a great service.'

Staff spoken to had a good awareness of the individuals care and support needs and the importance of treating people with respect and dignity. This was confirmed by the training provided by the provider around respect and dignity and by talking to people who use the service. One person said 'The staff are warm and supportive' and another person said 'I have had the same support worker for a long time and I like that.'
