Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 20 October 2025

We visited the service on the 30 October 2025. The Wesley Centre is a care at home service. It provides personal care to people living in their own homes. At the time of our assessment, 3 people were receiving support with personal care. The service was registered to provide support for younger and older adults living with learning disabilities and autism. As part of this assessment, we visited 2 supported living locations to carry out this comprehensive assessment. The service could also provide domiciliary care but at the time of our assessment this part of the service was not operating, and the provider intended to remove domiciliary care from their registration.

Our inspection was prompted due to the service age of rating. We assessed the service against the Right support, right care, right culture guidance to judge whether the provider had ensured people with a learning disability and autistic people were treated with respect, equality and dignity, had choices and independence, and were supported to access their local communities. We found the provider had met these expectations and always provided support following these guidelines, however improvement were needed with supporting people with choices and decision making.

Safeguarding systems had been embedded, and staff showed good knowledge and understanding of how to keep people safe.We raised some safeguarding concerns in relation to financial safeguards following our visit.

Mental capacity was considered; however, we found individuals were not always supported to make their own choices regarding financial decisions.

Overall, people were safe and involved in assessment of their needs. Staff knew people well and care plans and were detailed taking account of people’s communication, personal and health needs. People received their medicines as prescribed by trained and competency assessed staff.

Auditing systems were in place but needed strengthening and embedding into practice, specifically financial governance and ensuring lessons were learnt to drive improvements.

Managers ensured staff received suitable training and supervision so they could safely and effectively deliver care. There was a positive culture at the service, with a clear management presence. Staff felt supported to give feedback about how to drive improvements and felt action would be taken following it.

The services were clean and homely. People were supported by staff who had received sufficient training, and they were knowledgeable about their needs. People’s health needs were met, and appropriate professionals were involved when required.

I speak to them quite regularly, email and make sure everything is okay. All the carers have my number if [my relative] needs anything. I am in contact with them all the time. We have confidence in them.”
