All Inspections

24 April 2013

During a routine inspection

Prior to our visit we reviewed all the information we had received from the provider. As part of our inspection we spoke with two people who used the service and three relatives. We used observation to help us understand the experiences of people using the service, because some of the people had communication needs which meant they were not all able to tell us their experiences. The registered manager was not present during our inspection but we spoke with a senior carer and three care workers. We also looked at service information, records and did a tour of the building.

The people we spoke with told us they felt staff listened and respected their views. One person said, 'The staff are friendly and help me do the things I want to.'

A relative told us the transition plan for their relative was well planed and that staff were all very knowledgeable about their relatives health care needs. This person said, 'It's an excellent service, this is our first experience of care, we haven't been disappointed at all.'

The people we spoke with told us they felt safe and well cared for. One person told us, 'The staff are good, they make me feel safe.'

Relatives we spoke with told us they were informed of any changes to their relative's needs and that they felt involved and consulted in decisions. One relative told us, 'We are invited to a meeting once a year with all the professionals involved but we have regular contact with the manager and staff all the time.'
