Independence, choice and control
The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing.
The provider and their staff knew the importance of maintaining a person’s independence. Staff supported people to enjoy many activities including hydrotherapy, day service and going away on holiday. Staff supported people to do what they were able, only assisting where the person needed extra support. This included baking or cooking, going to town or the cinema and attending a dementia choir. People were also supported to maintain relationships with family and friends.
