We found this practice was providing safe care in accordance with the relevant regulations and had taken into consideration appropriate guidance.

Staff and leaders told us of the systems in place to manage risks for patients, staff, equipment and the premises.

At the inspection on 29 April 2025 we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulations:

We were told that the practice had replaced the expired emergency oxygen cylinder and in addition, had purchased a second cylinder as a back-up.

Staff told us suitable electrical converters were now available for all equipment.

We noted all equipment was clean.

A newly purchased compressor had been installed since our last visit and the old one had been removed from the practice.

Out of date dental materials had been removed from the practice.

Dental sharps bins were correctly assembled in each treatment room.

We discussed with the leadership team that some areas of the practice were still run-down and would benefit from a minor refurbishment.

On the day of the inspection, we noted that the rear fire exit was still partially blocked by cleaning equipment. However, the practice manager took immediate action to ensure all obstructions were removed. Despite this, not all risks associated with fire safety, identified in the fire risk assessment in October 2017, had been addressed.

We saw all local anaesthetic cartridges in each surgery were all in date. However, improvements could still be made to ensure these were consistently stored covered, in accordance with current guidelines.

At the inspection on 29 April 2025 we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulations:

Staff told us the recently employed cleaner had been fully inducted and had access to all the practice policies and procedures to undertake their role effectively.

On the day of the inspection, we noted that effective recruitment procedure had been implemented to ensure that appropriate checks are completed prior to new staff commencing employment at the practice.

At the inspection on 29 April 2025 we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulations:

Staff told us that the recent employment of a cleaner, along with updated cleaning schedules, had led to a higher level of cleanliness throughout the practice.

On the day of the inspection, we noted that the practice now appeared visibly cleaner throughout.

We saw that hazardous substances were stored securely, away from patient access.

We were shown a newly purchased clinical waste bin, which was locked to ensure clinical waste was stored securely. However, the old, unsecured bin was also still in use. Once this was highlighted, the practice manager took action on the day to rectify the issue.
