During a routine inspection

When we inspected the Community Dental Services Head Office, we visited the two mobile dental units which provide a service across Bedfordshire, directed from the office. As there were no people visiting a dentist that day, we were unable to speak to people directly receiving a service. However, we subsequently spoke to two services where the mobile units provide dental care. Both told us that Community Dental Services provide a professional and expert service to their clients. One person said, ''They are very friendly and helpful. They always communicate well with people and provide information for people to take home and discuss if necessary.'' Another told us, ''They are excellent and have got to know our patients well. They provide continuity. If one of our patients is too disabled to be moved into the van, they will come into the home.''

The two mobile units we inspected had sufficient equipment and processes in place to ensure that treatment was delivered to people safely. Both vehicles were clean, tidy, well equipped and well maintained.
