During a routine inspection

We found staff clearly understood people’s needs and the people who used the service were happy with the care and support provided. We found, overall, care records provided an adequate amount of detail but on occasion, some information was brief. This did not affect the outcomes for people using the service and actions were in place to ensure all documentation provided a sufficient level of person-centred information.

We found the safeguarding processes in place were suitable to protect people from harm and staff were clear about the different types of abuse and how to report any concerns. We also found staff were appropriately supported in their role and were provided with sufficient levels of support and supervision.

In addition, we found there were systems and processes in place to assesses the quality of service provision but some aspects of this could have been better formalised, for example, the spot check audits.

We spoke with three people who used the service and someone’s relative. One person said they were pleased with the service and staff were always on time. Another person said staff were nice and they had no complaints. A third person commented staff were polite and a relative remarked how staff were respectful.

During a routine inspection

The people we spoke with about the service told us they gave consent to the planned care and treatment, the care plan was reviewed regularly and they were always included in the review.

The people we spoke with also told us they were very happy with the service they received from Queensland Homecare. One person told us that the staff were very helpful. One person told us they had "bent over backwards" to make sure that the care was delivered by a staff member that their relative accepted. The staff are now delivering the care that was wanted and when they wanted it.

The people we spoke with told us that they were confident that should they have any concerns they would be dealt with appropriately.
