Updated 5 February 2026
Dates of assessment were from 23 and 25 February 2026. This was a follow up assessment to review the actions taken since the last assessment. The service is a care home providing personal care for people, some of whom are living with dementia.
At this assessment we found the provider was in breach of 2 legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment and good governance.
Governance and management systems were not always effective and there were a number of concerns not fully addressed from the last assessment. Systems and processes for assuring the quality of care were in place but still not robustly implemented and lacked consistency. Some key quality issues were not addressed. There were some signs of progress beginning to emerge from issues identified at the last assessment, including a manager in post, staff supervision and improved oversight of people’s weight loss. Improvements were still needed to ensure the safe management of medicines, and the quality, consistency and accuracy of records to demonstrate people’s safe care and support.
Care plans and risk assessments were not always accurately or sufficiently in place. Assessments before admission lacked detail and were not always completed in a timely way. Individual risks were not always assessed, including risks around people’s behaviour and the management of medication.
Staff understood how to identify and act upon safeguarding concerns, although reporting processes were not always followed, and incident reports were not always adequately reviewed to identify and mitigate concerns. Where individual safeguarding risks were known this was not always documented so staff could mitigate against these.
There was evidence of effective teamwork, although still some concerns around low morale within the staff team. Staff were kind, caring and respectful in their approach, and mindful of people’s dignity. Staff training was completed regularly, although not all shifts had the presence of staff qualified in first aid.
Some evidence of learning from the last inspection was apparent and some areas were beginning to be addressed, although some repeated concerns remained.
We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
