All Inspections

During a routine inspection

During our visit we talked with one of the people who use this service, some of their relatives and a number of the staff including the registered manager.

People told us that they were satisfied with their care. One person said, "They're very good here and you can quote me as much as you like'.

People told us they were regularly asked if their service was satisfactory. They told us that the staff assessed their needs. In the care plans we looked at we saw the instructions for how staff minimised risks to people's health and well-being.

Staff told us they had received training in safeguarding people from abuse.

Staff also told us they were supported to work effectively.

The provider had systems in place that enabled them to identify problems swiftly and act upon them to keep people safe at all times. This meant the service was well led.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with office staff including the registered manager at the time of our visit. We spoke with one person, two relatives, a social worker and three care workers over the telephone.

People who used the service told us that they satisfied with their care. One person who used the service said, 'My relative is happy with the support they receive.'

We found care plans lacked details about people's needs and were not always reviewed promptly to make sure they were up to date. Individual risk assessments were not in place to keep people safe. This meant staff did not know the full extent of people's needs to deliver support consistently.

We saw the service had introduced systems to protect people and report allegations of abuse. These were not always effective to make sure the local authority were informed of incidents which staff recorded that had affected the wellbeing of the people they supported.

Staff recruitment systems did not make sure anyone who worked for A1 Supported Living was screened fit to have contact with vulnerable people.

Lack of effective management systems meant the service was not able to demonstrate that people's welfare and safety was always protected.
