Our view of the service

Date of assessment 15 May 2026. Bluebird Care Redbridge is a homecare agency. It provides personal care to people living in their own houses and flats in the community. At the time of the inspection there were 61 people using the service. The assessment was carried out due to an aged rating. The service had been previously inspected on 18 January 2018 with a rating of good.

Leaders promoted a person-centred culture where people using the service were supported to remain independent, maintain their wellbeing and achieve outcomes that mattered to them. There was evidence of compassionate care, effective partnership working and a commitment to continuous improvement. The service had established governance systems, electronic care records, incident management processes and quality assurance mechanisms to monitor safety and quality.

The service promoted a positive learning culture, with staff knowing people well; understanding their needs, preferences and routines.

People's experience of this service

People consistently described staff as kind, caring, professional and respectful. Many told us they looked forward to staff visits and valued the relationships they had developed with their regular carers. Relatives spoke warmly about staff who had become trusted individuals within their family members' lives and who demonstrated compassion, patience and understanding when providing support.

People told us they felt safe receiving support from Bluebird Care Redbridge. Relatives described having confidence in staff and trusted them to care for their family members safely. Medication support was viewed positively, with relatives praising the diligence of staff and the robust processes used to administer and record medicines. Several people said they had no concerns about the service and felt reassured by the professionalism of staff.

People and relatives valued the continuity of care provided where regular carers attended calls. Familiarity helped to build trust, particularly for people living with dementia or those receiving long-term support. Many people told us staff understood their routines, preferences and individual needs. Where people did not always receive support from the same carers, this was identified as an area where improvements could further enhance people's experience.

Relatives particularly praised communication from care staff. They told us staff contacted them promptly when concerned about changes in wellbeing, medication issues or health needs. Families valued being kept informed and felt involved in decisions about care and support. Staff were described as proactive in identifying concerns and seeking appropriate support when required.

People also shared examples of staff going beyond their expected duties. This included supporting attendance at hospital appointments, helping with pets and household tasks, providing emotional reassurance and taking time to ensure people felt comfortable and unhurried. These examples demonstrated a caring culture and a commitment to supporting people's wellbeing and independence.
