During an inspection in response to concerns

We carried out this responsive inspection as the result of someone who was using the service contacting us. This person raised concerns, which they had also raised late last year before a previous inspection, about the standard of meals. We spoke with this person during our visit and the told us that "things have improved as I now have my own menu each week". Two other people who spoke with us each said that the variety of meals could be better and that they did not always like what was on offer.

We looked at what expectations there are for people using the service to be involved in domestic chores around the home. It is made clear that people should be involved in cleaning their own room and assistance is provided to do this as necessary. The person who had contacted us thought that as the service is paid for their support that "staff should do my cleaning and laundry for me with the amount they get paid". We found this to be a difference of opinion rather than anything concerning about people's care or support needs being met.

During a routine inspection

Although only one person wished to speak with us briefly during this inspection, we observed how people using the service and staff members interacted. From this we saw that no one appeared hesitant in approaching staff to ask questions or engage in conversation.
