During a routine inspection

We found people had access to information and had their needs assessed before they went to live at the service. They were involved in decisions about their care. One person said they had only lived at the service for a short time and said they were 'happy to live there'. Another said it was the "best one I have been in".

Peoples choices and preferences were respected by staff. One person who used the service told us they "liked their room because of where it was in the house and I wouldn't be disturbed if I went there". Another said they had "choices about what to do each day".

We were able to see that people's care and treatment was planned and provided in a way that was intended to ensure there safety and welfare. Risk assessments were in place and were reviewed when needed.

Staff working at the home were given training, development and the support they needed for their role. This meant they were qualified, skilled and experienced enough to meet people's needs.

We saw that people's personal records, staff records and other records relevant to the management of the services were accurate and fit for purpose.

During a routine inspection

Two of the seven people were in hospital at the time of the inspection. We met and spoke with three of the five people who were living at the home on the day of the visit, although only briefly, in accordance with their wishes. They told us that they were happy living at the home and received the support that they needed.

People told us 'its ok,' 'the food's fine,' and 'I like it here.' We observed that they were supported appropriately within the home, and they told us that they received enough support from staff. People told us that they were supported to engage in activities of their choosing. Our observations indicated that they were given choices, and had formed good and supportive relationships with staff members.

People lived in an environment that was well maintained and they told us that the home was furnished and decorated in accordance with their preferences.

Staff received appropriate supervision and there was a training plan in place for the staff team. The home's record keeping helped to protect people against the risk of unsafe or inappropriate care.
