During a routine inspection

We found Court House Clinics- Watford offered a range of treatments to adults. These included minor surgical and non- surgical procedures. We noted that there was a television showing some of the range of treatments available and there was also reading material in the waiting room. We observed several people attending appointments and we were able to speak to them. They told us they were very happy with the treatment they were receiving at the clinic. They told us they understood the care and treatment choices available to them, and had been asked for their signed consent to care and treatment. We noted from the care plans we reviewed that these were person centred and reviewed regularly as the treatment progressed. Risks and benefits had been discussed to enable people to make informed decisions. The care plans contained a section which the person completed, to identify any risks and their expectations from the treatment.

We saw that there were policies regarding infection control and noted that the practice was clean, and had robust cleaning schedules in place. There was a schedule, for staff to sign, to confirm that they had read the policies. We were shown the arrangements for supporting staff, including the minutes of staff meetings. The manager explained how these were used to agree performance targets and maintain quality. Quality monitoring surveys were completed and evaluated as a means of improving the quality of service people received.
