All Inspections

During a routine inspection

The majority of people we spoke with felt that the service met their individual needs and preferences. Their carers used their preferred names, listened to them and took into account their choices, treated them with respect and maintained their privacy and dignity when providing care.

One person told us, "My care worker always tells me what she is doing and makes sure I am happy with this". Another said, "I feel very lucky to have such a good carer".

People told us they were involved in the planning of their care. They had discussed their care with the provider when it first started and some told us that the provider had visited them to review their needs with them. Others said that the provider had telephoned them to check that their needs were being met.

The majority of people we spoke with said that their carers understood their needs and carried out their work competently. Their care workers turned up on time and they were informed if there was any delay. The carers stayed for the allocated time. When people had replacement care workers they said they were satisfactory. One person told us they had experienced unsatisfactory service and were in regular contact with the provider about this.

These mostly positive views were confirmed by our inspection. However, we found other evidence that people were not always protected against the risks of receiving inappropriate or unsafe care and support because of shortcomings in the records kept on them.
