All Inspections

During a routine inspection

When we carried out our inspection the service was being provided to about 70 people. Some people who used the service required palliative care. Other people received assistance from staff which included personal care. One person received care support whilst they lived in the community.

We spoke with the registered manager, the operations manager, the training coordinator and five health care support workers. Due to the illness of people who used the palliative care service we were not able to speak with anyone. We did however speak with four relatives or partners of people who used the service. We spoke with five people who received regular care and support with personal care and two relatives. We also spoke with three medical professionals to gain comments from them about the level of care provided.

People we spoke with were complimentary about the care provided. One relative described the staff as: 'Very mindful and very good'. Another relative said they were: 'Happy with everything. Very pleased' and that their relative was treated with dignity.

Staff had been recruited in an appropriate way. This meant that most checks had been undertaken to make sure that they were suitable to care for people in their own homes.

The provider had some systems in place to enable them to monitor the quality of the service provided. These systems needed to be developed further to ensure that people received appropriate care and support.

In this report the name of a registered manager appears who was not in post and not managing one of the regulatory activities at this location at the time of the inspection. Their name appears because they were still the Registered Manager on our register at the time.
