Our view of the service

This assessment took place between 24 February and 4 March 2026. This service is a care home providing nursing and personal care to people, some of whom live with dementia. At the time of our assessment there were 25 people using the service.

Systems were in place to safeguard people from the risk of abuse. Risks to people’s safety and wellbeing were effectively managed. Staffing levels were sufficient to meet people’s needs, and staff received appropriate training to provide high quality, safe care. Recruitment processes were safe and thorough, and infection prevention measures were well managed.

People were actively involved in assessments of their needs. They received person-centred care tailored to their individual needs, including those relating to protected equality characteristics. People’s care and support was regularly reviewed to ensure it was effective and promoting positive outcomes. People were supported to maintain their health and wellbeing and received their medicines as prescribed. The provider was taking action at the time of this assessment to improve information about people’s ‘as required’ medicines to ensure this was effective. Staff ensured people understood their care, enabling informed consent. People’s communication needs were well understood, allowing people to make decisions and retain choice and control over their care where possible.

People were treated equally and fairly and supported to access care when required. The service was led by an experienced manager, and staff were valued and supported with their learning, development, and wellbeing. Concerns raised by people or staff were listened to and acted upon. A culture of learning, inclusivity, and collaborative working supported continuous improvement at the service.

People's experience of this service

People were satisfied with the care and support they received and had no concerns about the service. A person told us, “I’m very happy here.” A relative said, “My relative has settled in really well. He is always calm and relaxed. His temperament has changed since coming to live here. He is much calmer. So far, I am really pleased with things.”

People were supported to stay safe, healthy, and well. They had choice and control over how their care and support was provided, and staff understood their individual needs, delivering care in line with their preferences. Staff worked effectively with other professionals, sharing information and acting on recommendations to provide consistent, joined-up care. People were treated with kindness and respect, and observations showed staff consistently engaged positively with them. People took part in activities tailored to their needs. The service was managed well, with an open and inclusive culture. People and their families were encouraged to give feedback and raise concerns, and senior staff responded positively, making improvements when needed.
