Updated 15 April 2021

Ravenswood House is a care home. People in care homes receive accommodation and nursing or personal care as a single package under one contractual agreement. CQC regulates both the premises and the care provided, and both were looked at during this inspection.

Ravenswood House is a residential care home providing care, support and accommodation for up to ten adults with learning disabilities. At the time of our inspection there were nine people living there.

We found the following examples of good practice.

¿ A summer house was in the process of being improved to facilitate visits to people.

¿ Staff were provided with guidance and training on working safely during the pandemic. Staff told us they felt supported by the registered manager during the pandemic.

¿ Staff had received training in the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

¿ Staff and people had been tested for COVID-19 in accordance with national guidance.

¿ People's well-being was promoted throughout the pandemic. For example, themed 'takeaway' nights had been organised as an alternative to people going out for meals.

¿ Environmental improvements have been made in response to the pandemic such as new waste bins, hand sanitiser dispensers and improvements to the laundry room.

¿ The service had updated their infection control policy to reflect the situation with the pandemic.

¿ The provider had a contingency plan to follow in the event of staff shortages caused by COVID-19.

¿ Staff ensured the service was regularly cleaned.
