Safeguarding

Score: 3

The service worked with people and healthcare partners to understand what being safe meant to them and the best way to achieve that. They concentrated on improving people’s lives while protecting their right to live in safety, free from bullying, harassment, abuse, discrimination, avoidable harm and neglect. The service had systems in place to ensure alerts about allegations of improper care and/or abuse were raised and shared concerns quickly and appropriately with relevant agencies.

Involving people to manage risks

Score: 2

The service did not always work well with people to understand and manage all risks. Care plans we looked at had bed rails recorded as in use. We found no reasons for equipment in use, associated risk assessments or safety checks of equipment in place for people who had bed rails. There were other appropriate risk assessments in place to minimise risks to people’s safety including personal care and mobility.
