We undertook a follow-up on-site inspection on 28 October 2025. This was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to assess whether the practice was meeting legal requirements.
We had previously undertaken an announced on-site inspection of DK Dental Practice on 20 May 2025. We had found the registered provider was not providing safe and well-led care and was in breach of regulations 12 (Safe care and treatment), 17 (Good governance), 18 (Staffing), and 19 (Fit and Proper persons employed) of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. We undertook a follow up inspection on 23 September 2025 and found there was a risk of harm and used urgent powers under Section 31 of theHealth and Social Care Act 2008to take immediate action.
We undertook a follow up inspectionon 23 September 2025 and found the provider had made little to no improvement to comply with the Regulations. In addition, we found concerns around the safety of the premises and an increased risk of harm.
During this follow-up inspection, we found the provider had acted swiftly to address the risks identified on 23 September 2025 and the outstanding concerns found on 20 May 2025. The provider is now meeting the Regulations.
The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.
Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.
The practice is in Weymouth and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children. The practice is on the first floor and accessed via a flight of stairs. Car parking spaces are available near the practice.
The practice had 2 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 5 staff, of which there was 1 dentist, 1 hygienist/therapist, 2 trainee dental nurses, 1 receptionist and a practice manager. Another dentist was due to start in the next few weeks. We spoke with the practice manger, 1 dentist and 1 trainee dental nurse.
The service provides cosmetic treatments, some of which are not in scope of CQC regulation and are not covered in our inspection.
