We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 12 May 2026.
We found the practice had not met all regulations.
Prior to the announcement of the inspection the practice did not have systems to identify and manage risks.
The practice did not have effective systems to ensure staff received appropriate support, training, professional development, supervision and appraisals.
The practice recruitment procedures did not always reflect current legislation.
Improvements were required to ensure that treatment provided to patients was adequately documented in the patient care records.
There was a lack of effective oversight and governance arrangements at the practice.
Staff provided care and treatment broadly in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.
The practice is in Newport, Isle of Wight and provides private dental care and treatment for adults.
There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.
The practice has 2 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 3 staff, of which there were the principal dentist, 1 dental nurse and 1 receptionist. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to all the staff during our inspection.
The provider was not complying with Regulations 12 (Safe care and treatment) and 17 (Good governance) of the Health and Social Care Act 2008(Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.
