All Inspections

During a routine inspection

People said that they were asked about the help they needed when they started using the service and they were consulted about any changes in their care provision. One person said: "It is excellent. The staff go above and beyond the call of duty." Another person said; "I am perfectly happy with the care." Other comments included; "Staff can't do enough for me." And "I don't have any need to complain. The girls are great."

We found people were given appropriate information and were involved in making decisions about their care and treatment. People told us staff treated them with politeness and respect.

Staff spoken with said it was a good organisation to work for. They said they were well supported to do their job. All staff spoken with said they thought communication was effective and they were kept informed of people's care and support needs.

We saw appropriate checks were carried out before staff began work for the service.

We saw the provider had a complaints procedure in place. They made people aware of their right to complain if there was a concern with the service they received.

17 December 2012 and 10 January 2013

During a routine inspection

This was a new agency, at the time of inspection it employed five members of staff and provided care to ten people. We spoke with two people who used the service and two staff members. People who used the service said they were pleased with the care and support provided by the agency. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were always polite and cheerful.

We found records were not in place to show the care and support staff provided to people, although people we spoke with said current staff members were able to provide individual care and support to them. Assessments and care plans were not in place to make sure individual care was provided by all staff members. One person said, "The staff are very good."

All the appropriate checks were not carried out when staff were recruited to work in the agency. This is necessary to keep people safe and protect them from harm.

Staff received professional development and people told us staff were well trained.

We saw the provider had systems in place to gather feedback from people, who used the service, and to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service people received.
