HMP Long Lartin is a Category A men’s prison in Evesham, Worcestershire. It holds approximately 500 prisoners and is operated by His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service.
During a joint inspection with His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Prisons (HMIP), we carried out an announced focused inspection of health care services provided by Practice Plus Group Health and Rehabilitation Services Limited (PPG), between 2-5 March 2026.
We carried out this inspection to follow up on the Action Plan Requests issued after our previous inspection in November 2024 for breaches of regulations relating to safe care treatment and good governance. At this inspection, we looked at 3 quality statements and found the provider had made sufficient improvements to the service. They were compliant with the Action Plan Requests and were no longer in breach of the regulations.
However, during this inspection we found further concerns. Partnership working was not always effective in addressing long-standing environmental concerns, some assurance processes were not all working as expected, oversight of risk did not include those in the mental health team, and sexual health service records were not kept separately. We have therefore issued a further action plan request in relation to governance.
