During an inspection looking at part of the service

We spoke with people who use the service and their relatives or representatives. They were complimentary about the care received. All interactions we observed between the staff and the people using the service were open, respectful and courteous. One person who uses the service told us 'They (staff) talk to me nicely.' The provider had taken action to ensure that people who use the service and their relatives and representatives were involved in making decisions about their care or treatment.

Staff received appropriate training and professional development to enable them to deliver care and treatment to people safely and to an appropriate standard. The provider had put measures into place to ensure staff supervision and appraisal were in place to support workers.

There were systems for monitoring the quality and safety of services provided to people. These included recording and investigating complaints, and collecting feedback from relatives and representatives of people who use the service and staff. Improvements had been made by the provider to ensure feedback from people who use the service was obtained and acted upon. Where improvements to services were required, these were made.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with people who use the services and their relatives and representatives. They were complimentary about the care received. All interactions we observed between the staff and the people using the service were open, respectful and courteous.

Care was planned and reflected the individual needs of people living in the home. However there was no evidence that people or their representatives had been involved in developing their care plans, or that their views had been sought about the type of care they wanted. People told us they trusted the staff and felt safe in their care.

There were arrangements in place to support workers. Staff received appropriate training and supervision. However staff development was not supported through a regular system of appraisal.

There were systems for monitoring the quality and safety of services provided to people. These included recording and investigating complaints, and collecting feedback from relatives and representatives of people who use the service and staff. However there was no system in place for gathering feedback from people who live in the home. Where improvements to services were required, these were made.
